[these blogs are mostly for me to categorize shit here]*

Alright, so I wrote another shitty thing. This one's a little bloated, very unpolished; it stands at about 15.5K words. It's derivative and poorly told. it's super uneven: the third and final act begins just before the halfway point. shitty all around. But I've been writing it for about a year and half, or at least iterative versions of it. It won't show in the text, of course, but I've been at this one for a while and I more or less 'finished' it tonight. so that's something. here's an excerpt :

Of course, Cian knows he has to excise these emotions somehow. Over the years, Cian has come to discover two specific things which play upon his heart strings more reliably than any other: dead dogs and cheating wives. Whenever he is feeling particularly numb, he scours the internet for true stories of people who’ve lost their best friends, be they canines or significant others, and wrings his heart until he’s squeezed out at least an ounce of feeling. Once, in explaining his ritual to an acquaintance, he likened it to masturbation for the soul, where the catharsis manifested itself not in cum but in tears. That was, naturally, the last time he opened up to a stranger about the practice.
